COMPANY PROFILE
Leffler Post commenced operation in 1999 to supply production facilities and consultancy to the international television industry. The company set up to be self sufficient obtaining the hardware necessary to complete all productions from start to master release.
Now centrally located in Crows Nest on Sydney’s lower north shore, its close proximity to North Sydney makes it convenient to the advertising and television hub of Australia. The main 'core' work is based on television commercials, television programs, corporate videos, web production and DVD/Blu-ray production. Tape and data transfers including mastering also form a major part of the facility.
Contained within this post production facility are five non-linear production edit suites, audio post with voice over studio, a linear production edit area and a centralised equipment room. Production equipment includes location cameras, lighting and sound including portable outside broadcast facilities.
All the non-linear edit suites have access to HDCAM, Digibetacam, HDV, DVCAM, DVCPro, MiniDV, one-inch videotape, SP Betacam, Svhs/vhs, betamax, BVU, Umatic, Hi8, DA98, DAT, audiocassette, turntable and 1/4" audio formats. The editing is performed in the digital domain and in the case of commercials mastered digitally to datadisk or direct FTP upload.
Recent work completed at Leffler Post include "Valvoline TVC", "Beach Cricket 2008" 6 x 90 min highlights programs", "Beach Cricket 2009 teasers", "MyDiabetesCare" DVD, "Top Gear Australia" transfers, "Freesurf TV" DVD, "Grafton to Glenn Innis Cycle Classic" program, "Temple of the Holy Spirit" DVD and documentaries “Kristen’s Hero”, “Big Cat Doctor”, “Moving Africa’s Arc” as well as high definition series “Shamwari: A Wild Life” and “On A Wave”.
We have expanded in the adaption of total tapeless acquisition formats along with digital delivery and high definition Blu-ray integration. High definition internet video is also high on the agenda including data casting and video/audio distribution worldwide.
2008 saw the final High Definition fitout including all edit suite upgrades and the purchase of HDCAM decks and monitoring equipment. All dressed up and ready for your challenge.
Baz Leffler
Baz commenced his television career in the early '70's working as a technical director in regional television. He later helped set up and build some of Australia’s largest postproduction companies including ECV (Digital Pictures) and Videolab. In late 1979 he and an associate set up Videopak, a television facilities and production company including a multi studio complex specialising in complete packaging of all forms of television. During this time he was also instrumental in designing and manufacturing computer-editing equipment for film and television sold worldwide. This involved frequent trips overseas studying and investigating trends in television production and techniques.
After returning to Australia he has been operating post production facilities companies specialising in commercials, programs and corporate videos. In the early days he pioneered the use of computer non-linear editing in commercial production, which had enabled him to present 'professional' TVC's at realistic prices.
Since then he has become world reknowned for his abilities to provide international programming services in both Standard Definition and High Definition.
He is now running and operating his own television production and postproduction company, ‘Leffler Post Pty Ltd’.

*The ABC Documentary 'Aids in The Arts' (Released as 'Positive Art' in the US) won an 'Emmy Award' in New York for the best 'Arts Documentary' in the world.
Apart from editing, Baz’s strong points include sound postproduction, graphic design, 3D animation, digital FX, technical direction and the ability to work un-supervised. With a technical background he also is a fully qualified electronics and computer engineer holding a ‘Telecommunication Technicians Certificate’, ‘Television Operators Certificate of Proficiency’ (TVOCP) and a ‘Electronics and Communications Certificate’.
The future for Baz is Leffler Post. This is the first company in Baz’s career that he has put his name to and while he feels he is starting all over again he believes his 35 years of television experience is as good a starting point as any.
